Alex Edley, Business Analysis and Workflow Team Leader at First Title Insurance & Property Services, ran the TCS London Marathon to raise funds for her chosen charity The Stroke Association. Amongst a crowd of over 53,000 participants, she tackled the challenging 26.2-mile course winding through London, crossing iconic landmarks like Buckingham Palace, The Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge, and Canary Wharf.

The 2024 TCS London Marathon, the largest in history, saw over 53,700 finishers and set a new world record by raising £67 million for various charities. Alex ran the London Marathon in memory of her father and shared, “I lost my dad on the 10th February 2020 following a series of strokes that began back in 2018.” and chose to pursue this challenge as he too was a proud marathon runner.

“The Stroke Association provides not only support but a wealth of information on how you can rebuild and recover. My dad won so so many battles but ultimately in the end it was too much. Thanks to the Stroke Association, so many more people win the fight and they do recover and live strong lives. There are even people running the marathon for the Stroke Association that had strokes themselves and the charity helped them get to where they are now. It’s just incredible what they do for people.”

Alex expressed gratitude for the support she received from the Conveyancing Foundation and the donations from colleagues and friends. The Conveyancing Foundation Charity Grant Scheme, the first of its kind in the property industry, provided Alex with a grant of £500, The grant boosted Alex’s fundraising total to over £3,928, surpassing her initial goal of £2,000.

Jess Smith, Conveyancing Foundation COO and Trustee, expressed her pride in Alex’s achievement and congratulated her on behalf of the Foundation. She also highlighted the significance of the Charity Grant Scheme in backing individuals within the industry as they pursue their fundraising goals, thereby contributing to charitable causes.

“We are proud to be able to support Alex in her fundraising efforts for The Stroke Association. Alex’s marathon accomplishment, especially selecting an event so meaningful to her father, is truly remarkable. By raising a substantial sum, she’s making a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by strokes, supporting their recovery and enabling them to lead resilient lives.  With the support of our generous Partners, we look forward to awarding many more Charity Grants in the 2024!”
