Laura Burkinshaw Runs 100 miles for Refuge charity

Raising funds through the Conveyancing Foundation’s Charity Lotto allows  members firms to support the charities that are close to their employees hearts and be able to support them through the fundraising initiatives and challenges that they wish to take part in.

Convey Law Legal Director, Laura Burkinshaw, started out on her running challenge in March 2022 to fundraise for Refuge. Not only did Laura taken on the challenge but decided to pledge 50 miles instead of the 20-mile minimum!! Laura completed her challenge at the end of March and Convey Law donated £1,000.00 of funds raised through the Charity Lotto to Refuge to support Laura with her challenge. Laura then took on a further challenge whereby Convey Law would pledge a further £1,000.00 if she ran a further 50 miles in April!!

Laura has completed her challenge and in total has run 100 miles and raised £2,170.00 for Refuge. Laura has said “This year along with other charities that we work closely with, I decided to use my personal challenge to help the Refuge Charity.  I have been so lucky in my life not to need the resources of this amazing charity but am very aware of those people who rely on their help to aide them to leave an abusive environment.  Statistics of domestic abuse rose dramatically in lockdown and therefore the Charity really needed the funds to help continue their fantastic work”

Refuge provides emergency accommodation through a national network of refuges, alongside many other specialist services, including the freephone 24-Hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline 0808 2000 247. Click here to donate now.
