Conveyancing Community Rallies Together to Raise £12,000 for DEC Turkey Syria Earthquake Appeal at the British Conveyancing Awards 2023
The Conveyancing Foundation, the official charity partner for the British Conveyancing Awards, has raised thousands of pounds towards their Earthquake Appeal, thanks to the generosity and kindness of the conveyancing community. The total raised now stands at over £12,000!
The British Conveyancing Awards took place on 21st March, at 8 Northumberland Avenue in Trafalgar Square, London. Over 400 conveyancing professionals came together for a night of celebration to reward and recognise the shining stars in the conveyancing industry.
For each £20 donation made to the Earthquake Appeal, donors were given one entry ticket to a prize draw that offers a chance to win a range of exciting prizes, such as £500 cash, a luxury weekend getaway, £150 M&S vouchers, an Amazon Echo Speaker, and five bottles of champagne. The prize draw is scheduled to be held on the 6th of April 2023.
The fundraising efforts began in response to the devastating earthquake that hit the border region between Turkey and Syria in October 2022. The disaster caused widespread damage and claimed the lives of over 50,000 people, leaving many more injured and homeless. The DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) launched an appeal to provide vital aid and support to those affected by the earthquake.
The Conveyancing Foundation, a registered charity supporting various initiatives and causes across the UK and beyond, responded to the DEC appeal by launching its fundraising campaign – the Earthquake Appeal. The charity called on conveyancing firms and property professionals to donate, with all funds raised going directly to the DEC.
